#fillupthedome

ANOTHER DREAM TURNS INTO A REALITY

#FillUpTheDome was a dream of a South African hip hop artist who wanted to be the first in the country to fill the Dome with no international help and his dream came true October 31 2015.

Some dreams are just dreams and some are meant to be lived. It seems as though a lot of people were behind Cassper Nyovest in his dream to fill up the Dome especially because he would be the first artist in the Country to ever achieve such. Big brands from the high cabinet such as Minister of sports and creation Fikile Mbalula and EFF leader Julias Malema were some of the people supporting the dream. Who would have thought the Minister and EFF leader at a hip-hop concert taking pictures and the minister dressed like a hip-hop artist? Not me that’s for sure. The president himself took to tweeter and said'' we congratulate Cassper Nyovest for his tremendous success which has demonstrated the rich talent that exist within our country''. Although there are some brands who didn’t think he would achieve this and thought it could never be done by a local artist with no international help.
When the President took to tweeter to congratulate the artist it left the tweeter world surprised. We didn’t know that the President of the country would be interested in such. The artist said in the Sowetan ''i'm not making money from #FillUpTheDome, i'm losing money from the Dome but for me its how many kids am i going to inspire?''. When people heard that Cassper was losing money instead of making money they wanted to go support him because they knew he was not benefiting from the event.

With the artist having to achieve such an achievement, it not only inspired other artist but it also had apolitical influence because not only did the politicians go to the concert but they also went to the social networks such as tweeter and tweeted about it.The President was criticized for praising the rapper. The tweeter world said'' if only Zuma was this quick to respond to #feesmustfall than he in congratulating the rapper''. Having such big names tweeting about #fillUpTheDome gave the artist even more exposure, not only here in South Africa but also internationally.

Not everyone was supporting Cassper in his dream to fill up the dome because lets face it, not everyone is a Cassper fan. Celebrities such as Anele Mdoda and Mika Stefano took the conversation to twitter. Mika Stefano said'' i just pray that when he;s met by harsh reality he doesn't say, its because no other artist supported me''.

Social media can work to ones advantage if used strategically. With the #FillUpTheDome i recommend that the concert could have been televised live on the television so that even the ones who didn’t go can still enjoy the show because there are people who really want to go to then concert and can’t because they can’t afford to buy the tickets. People can even use face book to discuss the show and even give ratings as to how good or bad they think the show will be because let’s face it, not everyone is a Cassper Nyovest fan. Also the radio can be used to have some parts of the show aired on the radio. Not everyone has a television or using social media so having some parts of the show on the radio will also be another way of using the social media strategically.

  1. I strongly agree with you when recommend that this concert should have been televised, because really not everyone can be able to watch it live so it being televised is an advantage to them.

    1. Yes because Cassper has a lot of people who love and support his music and having the concert televised would really mean a lot to those who couldn't go.

  2. I agree with you Khethiwe #FillUpTheDome was the biggest South African Hip Hop act done by an upcoming artist who had no support from international artist but local, but managed to fill the dome up.

    1. And to think that people thought it couldn't be done by A local artist. I was really inspired to believe that i can actually do anything i put my mind to.

  3. The fill up the dome hashtag displayed that dreams can realised regardless of your background. Cassper Nyovest made history as the first local act to fill up the dome. You enlightened me about a number of issues that I was not aware of.

    1. And the most important thing to look out for is the fact that it wasn't about money for the rapper but about how many kids he can inspire.

  4. I think Cassper Nyovest just wanted to prove a point by filling up the Dome which is why he chose not to televise the concert... He is just full of Vanity

  5. I agree with you that another dream turns to reality because many people did not believe that Cassper will make it to fill up the dome, and the president himself influence the use of social media by commenting to this hash tag on twitter saying his congratulations to the artist.

    1. You know with the president taking it to the social media, people started to realise that this was a big achievement not only for the artist but the country as well.

  7. This was one the most successful event, which had also generated a lot of positive feedback. The Mama i made it campaign Blazed the social media platform with a BANG , and left people and other musician how he did??? how he got to fill the up the Dome, it has never been done ... his PR team did a good job by promoting this event on social media because it shows that the message they were sending out did reach their target audience.

    1. Cassper's PR team really did an amazing job because if it wasn't for them promoting the concert, i don't think it would have been the success that it was.
